Jennifer loved Gallagher. She was a camper here and became the head cook here in 1985. She and her husband raised their wonderful children during many summers here. Following Gallagher’s re-opening in 2016, they worked or volunteered at Gallagher every summer, surrounded by family and camp friends. Jennifer was able to see Gallagher a final time for a special “Carsino” that the amazing Gallagher staff gave her a few weeks ago. She stayed in the car and the staff played roulette, crab races, and slots. She was able to place spoon bets.

Jennifer’s food, wisdom, humor, and joy nourished campers and staff for years and her legacy will live on through her family, the countless head cooks she trained, and the campers, staff, and friends who will practice the goodness and kindness she taught us.

One of Jennifer’s favorite things to do at camp was to listen to the campfire from the director’s cabin, living the wisdom of Old Hayes - “Oh, I love to feel the free spirit fly. When I hear the children sing, I think I love it more than anything.” She truly knew how to savor and share the little sacreds of Camp Gallagher and life.
