Summary:
The family camp head cook manages the daily operation's camp's food service during family camp sessions, including menu planning, inventory and ordering, food preparation and cooking, kitchen cleaning and sanitation, and kitchen staff supervision.
Classification: Exempt 13(a)(3)
Compensation: $115 a day
Number of days: 3-6
Responsibilities:
Manage the daily operations of the camp food and dining service, including:
developing well-balanced, nutritious menus with attention to dietary requirements and in consultation with the summer youth programs head cook
coordinating with summer youth programs head cook to conduct inventory and order of food, equipment, supplies in alignment with program budget
safely preparing, serving, and storing tasty food for all family camp participants and staff
conducting routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of camp kitchen and equipment
managing kitchen staff, including rotating support staff and kitchen volunteers, with attention to scheduling
ensuring staff and participants know and follow safety guidelines in the kitchen
Participate in and help lead camp activities, including but not limited to sundown and campfire
Uphold Camp Gallagher mission and values, including demonstrating respect and proactive care for all campers, staff, visitors, the natural environment, equipment and facilities.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience in supervision
Experience in institutional or large-scale food service setting
Knowledge of and experience in food service, including ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family-style serving, and sanitation.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse groups of people in alignment with Camp Gallagher’s values of inclusion and belonging
Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous physical activity in an institutional kitchen including standing, lifting, bending.
Have or be able to obtain current CPR/AED & First Aid certification
Have or be able to obtain current Washington Food Worker’s card

Summary:
The family camp assistant cook helps in the daily operations of the camp's food service during family camp sessions. When not in the kitchen the assistant cook participates in other programming such as sundown, campfire, games, etc.

Deliver a fun, outcomes-based crafts program, including:
developing rotation activities that meet camper, group, and program goals
designing and delivering instruction that makes use of different mediums, respects and attends to camp’s natural environment, and uses the art resources most efficiently and sustainably
assessing abilities of campers and staff environmental factors and adapt activities and instruction as needed
ensuring camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures
managing and caring for physical facilities and equipment in the crafts program area by following written protocols in the crafts manual, including maintaining a clear inventory and submitting order requests
Participate in and help lead camp activities, including but not limited to sundown, campfire, games, and details

supervising all waterfront activities, including lifeguarding and coordinating lifeguard shifts with other staff
managing and caring for physical facilities and equipment in the waterfront program area by following written protocols in the waterfront manual

Prior experience lifeguarding, instructing, or boating on waterfront similar to Camp Gallagher’s

Have or be able to obtain current WA State boater’s license

Summary:
The assistant director in charge of family camp sets family camp goals; hires, trains, and supervises staff; plans and delivers camp activities and events; and assists in the management of the overall camp operation as related to family camp sessions.
Classification: Exempt 13(a)(3)
Compensation: $115 a day

Responsibilities:
Oversee the hiring and training of staff and volunteers for all family camp sessions
Collaborate with staff from diverse backgrounds and styles to deliver transformative summer camping experience for campers families by
working with staff to ensure activities are prepared and implemented in such a way that they meet camp outcomes and the abilities/interests of campers
supervising staff across program areas and positions, assessing staff abilities in delivering program quality and providing regular feedback and coaching
coordinating and leading all camp programs including but not limited to meals, sundown, choice day, games, and campfire
overseeing management and care of physical facilities and equipment in all areas of camp
developing and implementing schedules and records for all areas of camp and facilities
ensuring all campers and staff know and follow safety and educational procedures
Participate in program planning and delivery during both structured activities including but not limited to archery, challenge course, crafts, sundown, campfire, etc., and spontaneous activities created in response to camper interests and program goals.
Maintain high standards for physical and emotional health safety of campers and self through supervision; pro-active community building; knowledge of and implementation of safety guidelines; awareness of personal, environmental, and equipment-based factors; recognition and treatment of personal health needs, including but not limited to ensuring participants receive medications as directed by health care manager.

Required Skills and Competencies:
Must be at least 21 years of age

Ability to observe behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management and rescue techniques.
Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous physical activity in an outdoor setting including, but not limited to hiking, boating, camping, and swimming
Have documented experience in administrative role in similar setting
Have documented experience or current instructional certification in program areas
Have or be able to obtain current CPR/AED & First Aid certification
Have or be able to obtain current Washington Food Worker’s card
Have or be able to obtain current lifeguard or small craft safety certification, preferred
Have or be able to obtain WA State Boater’s license, preferred
