Classic Camp Packing List
The following quantities are recommended for a session at Camp Gallagher. All items should be clearly marked. There are no laundry facilities at camp. Do not bring expensive items to camp.
Please note: we have some great gear to share! If campers need to borrow sleeping bags, warm jackets, or other items from the packing list, just to let us know.
CLOTHING ITEMS
2-3 pairs of long pants (both quick-dry, athletic for the overnight and jeans for in camp)
2 pairs of shorts (nylon dries faster than cotton)
Raincoat and rain pants
5 t-shirts & tank tops (mix of synthetic for the overnight and cotton for in camp)
1-2 sweatshirts
1-2 dry fit or fleece long sleeves
Baseball hat / sunhat or sunglasses (preferably both)
Several changes of underwear
Warm hat
6 pairs of socks (preferably at least one wool/synthetic pair)
Swimsuit(s) (preferably two)
1 warm jacket (fleece or synthetic is best for the overnight)
Pajamas
1 pair sturdy/tennis shoes
1 pair of sturdy sandals (Crocs, Keens, Tevas, Chacos, etc.)
PERSONAL ITEMS
Medications (in original prescription bottle or package. If your camper is bringing several medications, you might consider checking with your local pharmacy to see if they will create individual blister packs for each day of camp if you are able.)
2 Plastic garbage bags
Pen/pencil
Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Flashlight or headlamp and batteries
Warm sleeping bag
Pillow
Chapstick or lip balm
Personal toiletries
Toothbrush/toothpaste
Soap
Washcloth and towel
Daypack/backpack/duffel to use to pack for overnight
Water bottle with screw top that doesn’t leak
OPTIONAL ITEMS
Small dry bag for personal gear on overnight
Small, PACKABLE sleeping mat
Camera/film (disposable is best)
Stationery/postcards/stamps
Book
Bandanas
1 white cotton t-shirt for tie dying
